NTU Bikers challenge on 7th Feb 09 Part 2

And so at 1030am, we argued that it was still too early for lunch..

Finally the organisers decided to let us go to 1 more station before the lunch station..

n so off we went to.. Bukit Batok Driving Centre.. haha... what a place to go.. old memories i would say..

Found the room to go to and we had to do a MCQ test.. n we scored 10/10!! yeah.. haha..

The next clue: HKL tuning centre

But first, Kallang KFC for lunch. All teams has to report here and spend at least 30 mins in this place.. that's part of the rules to prevent people from skipping lunch in order to complete the game earlier..

some pics of what's going on..

Arriving at KKFC

Having our lunch there

Moving off again..
Next stop: HKL tuning centre (located in Alexandra Industrial area)

"huh, back to the west again??" and off we went again... ECP -> AYE

This station asked what are the 5 core values of HKL, don't ask me now because I don't even remember them at all.
2nd question was what is the air intake of something.. (can't rem also) we were required to read the dyno graph on the spot.. simple question actually. =)

Doing the tests

Group photo with the staff

Next stop: Punggol

This time it's up to the north-east, Punggol Beach..
wow this is 1 place that i've yet to step upon in Singapore..

And here you have it... some pics of the places.. sometimes, it's just easier to let the pictures do the talking..

Punggol beach was a world war II landing site

No test and no station master here.. so there's nothing for us to do.. just relax by the seaside n enjoy the scenery...

Next stop: Mount Faber

What are the names of these 3 buildings?

At this station, we are required to answer the name of the 3 buildings.
To get the hint, we would need to run up and down a steep slope to get the answer, the team which has the fastest time would have the highest score at the end of the day. My team refused to run at all, citing old lah, downgrade lah, PES C lah.. haha..
In the end, we still managed to get the correct answers because we phoned another friend for help... =)

Next stop: Lim Ah Boy / Reggina (kelantan street)
Quiz: To decode the puzzle that's stated in the paper.

While they were busy decoding, we got ourselves some nice daohuay opp the street..

After 20 mins, we finally managed to decode the whole message...
Next stop: The bridge at Indoor Stadium

Doing the test

The bridge that crosses over to Singapore Indoor Stadium

What is left of Oasis..

Now that we are towards the finishing point.. is the next stop easy to go??

NTU Bikers challenge on 7th Feb 09

Sometimes u just feel so lazy to blog.. but when it gets bored at times, u blog to pass time... juz like that i'm doing now at mac... waiting to pass my time...

Took part in this challenge which was organised by NTU. It's something similar to the Pagoh challenge that Moto-V has but it is held in Singapore...
wow.. u may think: "huh.. singapore got so many places to go to meh...?" That was my initial thought too... but then again.. just tag along with the guys since I haven't seen them for sometime.. riding with frens is 1 enjoyment that only bikers can understand...

Was told that it starts at 8.. but when i reach there.. i'm the earliest.. (besides the organisers)

There.. how my bike look for the day..

In the meantime, i took some photos of the hostel.. some of them do look like condos man..

Soon 1 by 1.. the participants came in..
The NTU rider club president gave a short speech followed by a safety briefing by the BBDC instructors...
(machiam army like that.. ur conducting officer talks first.. followed by the safety officer... anybody not feeling well?)

After awhile i realised the irony of this contest... it's organised by NTU but it does not have their own team in it... essentially, it's like NUSRiders VS Moto-V.

The participants from Moto-V and NUSRiders

The Moto V team

First stop: Kranji Dam..
Easy to go from NTU... my team just cheong like siao kias along Lim Chu Kang Road..
Speed limit there is 70km/hr ok!!
Think they were going at at least 110km/hr..
i abit hamchi so i stayed at 90.. haha..

Reach there already kena this station must lube our chain.. So spectrum took the lead and sacrificed his chain.. turning it blue in the process... -.-"

Some other photos while we were there...

After completing the given task, we were given the next clue...
"The only petrol station along Mandai Road"
haha.. now that's easy because it's just behind my house...
so i brought the team to the petrol station..

The next clue: Executive Golf Course

Reach there in good time...
This station requires us to use a air pressure gauge to set the front tire pressure to 28psi.
Simple job =)

The station master demostrating how to use the gauge.
Motrax showing how it's done.

Group photo at the reservoir
The time now is 1030am and according to the rules, we are supposed to go for Lunch at Kallang KFC. huh.. siao ah.. so early eat lunch for wat ?!?!

We were too fast and are stuck with the next station that's so near and yet we have to go so far away...

What's going to happen next..... stay tune...

立春 egg balancing act

Today is the first time I’ve heard of 立春 (Li Chun). Pardon my sua-ku-ness.

The terms Li Chun egg balancing or egg of Li Chun refers to a Chinese folk belief that it is much easier to balance an egg on a smooth surface during Li Chun (the official first day of spring in the Chinese lunar calendar, which usually falls on February 4 or 5), than at any other time of the year. Balancing fresh chicken eggs on their broad end was a traditional Li Chun ritual in China. – Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egg_of_Li_Chun)

Earlier on at 1200hrs, some folks gathered at the ground floor to conduct this test.

Take a look. =)

The Wedding Game 2009

Managed to catch this show after waiting for 2 days...
And guess wat?? it's not that nice after all... haii.. wanted to support the local production but...

The plot is weak... with some lame or sex-themed jokes..
would probably give it 2 stars out of 5.

Alright back to work after CNY !!

It's gonna be a quiet day at work..

Happy 牛 Year !!

yeah... the cow has finally come home... haha..
(those who went thru NS will understand what this means)

sgt: oi! recruit.. waiting for wat? waiting for the cow to come home is it?

rec: No sgt!!

In short, it's just a slang to say "wat are you waiting for?"

Time to start going out for my dreaded new year..
