Anime Festival Asia X - Day 1

Has been a week since AFAX and I'm still feeling the vibes. I had to get the tickets on the actual day since it was sold out when I tried to get them earlier on.

It is held at Suntec City again this year.Managed to reach there at 930am (which i thought was early enough, apparently it wasn't). To my horror, the queue for the tickets spanned over 2 floors, wth!? I went up and down.. only to realise that there is another queue that is from Hall 404.
Alrighty, let's start to Q up.. now.. where is the ticketing booth..?
Gosh, the queue is not really moving at all.. will I be able to make it in time for the 1030am segment by Danny Choo? I missed it last year, wouldn't want to miss it again this time round. While Q-ing up, these are what I saw.

Not sure what is this character.
(Pardon the yellow plastic bag behind)
Some exhibition going on.. oh oh..
This means that the open space on level 2 is not available for the cosplayers and photographers to interact. I can predict a big mass of human traffic stuck on level 4.

Tick.... dok... tick... dok... an hour has passed....
Finally.. I see the booth..
I'm IN !
Just in time, luckily they are still showing Mardock Scramble. Managed to catch the last 15 mins of this show.
After which a short interview was done with the creator of the show.

Alrighty, finally the man is out.
Didn't take much photos as this place was so dark and I was just listening. Got a video though.

Once the show was over, off I went to explore the place and it was already noon. First, I will talk about the fair. I didn't take much photos too because it was like so damn crowded in it...

Sega had a booth to let people have a go at a music game.
Miku~
Dead master - BRS
Itasha for Mirai
Itasha for Cool! Japan
Itasha for AFAX

Gundam Itasha
Bumped into Danny again, needless to say.
The photo is a must with the King of Otakus.
Meet and Greet with Alodia
She's a famous cosplayer in the otaku world
Cool! Japan booth - they have some products on display which hopefully will make a better life for us in the future.
One example is this scanner. It will scan and read our whatever that is on the page.
Another is this product called Winglet. You can step on it to move around easily.
Some stage performances which I managed to catch
Milky Homes
Jam Project + Mizuki  - made a short appearance
Check out the JAM in the afternoon.
After a while, the jam cease a little.. and the reason is because the management opened up Hall 404 to house the cosplayers, who had nowhere else to go in the beginning. Which was good and bad in my opinion.. Good because it can ease the JAM above. Bad is because they only turned on like... half the amount of lights in the hall, which made it pretty bad to take photos.

Spent the rest of the afternoon hunting for cosplayers before calling it a day. Here are some of my favourite photos.
Good backdrop for a shoot
I like the effect from the slow shutter
I'm not sure what are they cosplaying but I thought the attires look cute.
Cloud looks cute too.. lol..
My favourite for the day.
The angle is good.
Jumped in for this shot.
They were trying this shoot with another photographer.
Thought this attire looks good too
Azukin Cha Cha
Requested them for this angle
Got used in another blog =)

Teenage Big Day Out Cosplay event and the power of social networking sites

I went to Day 3 of this event to check out the cosplayers and at the same time, test out my new diffuser cap for my flash. Went as early as 10am in the morning because I thought there was a red carpet event for the cosplayers. When I reached there, it was empty.

Alrighty, go have my brunch first then. Went to Food Republic and saw this family of 5 (2 parents + 3 kids) next to me. Both parents went to get the food, leaving behind the 3 kids. U know what? Each one of them has an iPad. Sibei rich hor.. I don't even have an iPhone... lol..

It was really until 12pm+ that more cosplayers began to stream in. Oh Yeah~! Time to work.. =)
The turnout is more then what I expected, kudos to those who turned out!

Let the photos do the talking instead. Indoor shoot, 20mm + Nissin Di466 most of the time.

One of the contestant.
I think she won the competition.
Miku~
I think the wig and attire is great, and the leek is real leek leh.. lol..
Black Rock Shooter~
Chuck needs to SMS ?
This is a funny shot, did you see the red plastic bag that the girl on the left was holding?
She was eating halfway when I asked her for the shot.
Another pair of contestants.
Supposed to be K-On! characters.. but I don't rem them in meido uniform?
One of my fav shots, added some lomo effect to it.
Taken with fisheye, flash with 2nd sync.
Was trying out fisheye with flash, the reach don't seem enough.
FF X-2, Shuyin and Lenne
Despite being a FF fan, I stopped playing since FFX in year 2000.
Another vocaloid
Not sure what character is this but hey. what's up with the iPad? lol..
Another shot that I like.
The wig is nice~
Pardon the papers on the floor behind, think she was reading some stuff.
More photos here if you are interested: Teenage Cosplay Album

Each time I go back home, I will wonder who to share these photos with.
I like taking photos but I guess the person being taken would also like to see what's being taken of them right... so that is where the power of social networking came to mind. I posted the album in the Teenage magazine and Sgcafe's fan page and wala~~ i found the owners to these photos~~

I made like 20 fb frens just like this? Lol.. it's good to have a name to these faces..

Now the stage is set for AFA'X ~~ can't wait for it to come.. I think it is going to be a blast!!
Check out my previous AFA'09 album here and here if you did not attend last year.

I think I shall just get the $15 pass with stage access. Don't think I can afford more time to go for the I love anisong concert.

Haru 5th Anniversary and cosplay photography

Saw this on sgcafe forum and decided to pop by to take a look and take some shots too.

The good news? There are a couple of events comming up these weekends, Teenage Big Day Out and of course what I've been waiting for a long time since last year, the Anime Festival Asia 2010!!

The bad news.. my papers are within these few weeks too.. dang...

Have decided to go into anime/cosplay photography since the last AFA 09. You can see some photos from my AFA'09 albums here, Day 1 and 2. Still a newbie back then. The strong and vibrant colors from cosplayers setup really interest me. I guess I have a thing for strong contrast. Even my photography kakis think so. lol.. Hopefully, I have improved over the past year to get better shots of cosplayers again this year.

Sharing a couple of photos here, feel free to comment or tag anyone that you know.

Interesting, first time I see a guy cosplaying as K-On!

Air Gear Characters

Naruto (Very common cosplayer's choice from what I observe)
I like the expression on his face, enjoying his hobby to bits.

I like the feel of this shot.

I like the makeup and design of this cosplayer.

They have some ang mo kias acting as butlers. Pretty young lads, 15 - 17yos.
After your maid theme, the butler is picking up too.

That's all folks, if you are interested to see the rest of the photos, you can go to my fb album.
