Anime Festival Asia 09 - Day 2

*warning: very very long post, graphics intensive. The reason why it's so long is because I spent 7hours here and took like 500+ photos*

I thought about it.. I shall go at 10am in the morning for Day 2 of the AFA. Reached there at about 10:15am and the ticket queue is forming up again.. wtf..?? I never thought that there would be so many people who are willing to pay $15 to go in..

First thing that I did was to go to Danny's booth to check out the toys..

So many of these toys... I wanted to get one.. but they weren't for sale.. =(

Katanas for sale..

Wukong (childhood fav)

Some gundums

Dolls

Inuyasha

Walked around to scout for new models for photoshoot..

Saw Danny walking around and decided to approach him to get his namecard as stated here.

Now I got one of these card.

We chatted for awhile, I loaned him my GF-1 with the 20mm lens as he wanted to see what's the difference compared to his 14-45mm lens.

Took a photo with him as well, it's just a fanboy moment.. haha!!

There was a cafe called "Moe Moe Kyun" where the waitress in there are dressed up as maids.

Took a sneak shot of the waitress

I thought this promotional video was quite funny.

Some of the AFA booth promoters

Autograph session with a manga artist.

There was interview with a professional cosplayer going on and I decided to jump in and take a look.

Wow!! That's Cloud from FF7!! But he is like so damn far away from me..

Later on, I had the chance to get a good position for these close up shots.

That big blade was almost at my neck ('_')"

After that went around to look for more cosplayers again.. There's like tons and tons of them around loh.. It's like everytime when I walk around, I'll definitely bump into a character that I did not take a photo of... Throughout these 2 days, I guessed I have covered 90% of them??

These are some of them. The rest are all in my facebook.

By 5:15pm, I've decided to give up. Been taking photographs until my eyes can barely open.. This is the scene when I left.. The crowd is comparable to those IT shows that we have quarterly.

Rest of photos can be seen in my album: AFA Day 2 - Cosplay & AFA Day 2 - Toys

I'll be back for AFA'10

Anime Festival Asia 09 - Day 1

Saw this event, Anime Festival Asia 09 and was wondering should I attend it?

It was a 2 day event over 21-22 Nov 09 and part of the reason for going was to see Danny Choo in action. Have lost touch with Japanese stuff for quite some time, be it music, games or anime..

I was supposed to be on call for a work assignment so I didn't really know what time I was supposed to be activated. "Oh, what the heck.. go first then say."

Wanted to go there to catch Danny give his talk at 330pm.. I reach there at 315pm.. and guess what.. I got paged!!! Luckily, I managed to push back the project to start 2 hours later.

It was very pack at Suntec City and guess what I saw when I reach the ticketing booth.

Wah piang eh.. how to go in sia.. I'm not going to make it today.. so I just decided to hang around outside and guess what? Wow.. lots of cosplayers hanging out at the arena..

Plan 2.. photoshoot

These are some examples of the 300+ shots which I took during the 2 hours.. No post-processing done, just straight out of the camera.
First time covering this type of event, gained new experiences. I'm pretty pleased with some of the results, and I'm totally in love with the 20mm pancake lens.

The rest of the photos can be seen in my facebook account.

Winter is here..

The weather in Singapore is turning colder and the daylight's a little shorter these days. Signs of winter?? Although Singapore is not a seasonal country, I would still refer it as winter just for the sake of having colder weather.. An escape from the hot and humid weather that we have for almost 90% of the time.

Colder weather also means that you tend to be more patient with things around you.
You may think that's crap.. but at least it works for me.. A little more patient with people on the road and streets... Having spent my whole life in this little red dot, I can really feel that the space (physical and personal) around me is getting smaller and tighter.. More and more people in this country.. 5 million now to be exact.. 6.5 million is the target to be..

Yeah Yeah.. I know.. Sporeans are not willing to give birth.. Whose fault is it? In the past, if you have more then 2 kids, you get fined. Now, the government pays you to have kids but it's just too late.

I read this article the other day.. 13 million people worldwide want to migrate to Singapore... OMFG.. IF all these people come, this little island might probably sink into the ocean bed..

KPKB.. That's all sporeans can do.. I am no exception.. There will always be 2 sides for a coin..

Random postings..

Oh well... used to like designing web pages when I was in poly...
Now.. I feel that sharing of photos on blogger.com is kind of "not-so-effortless".
Uploading is slow.. linking is not so easy either..

Decided to try posting a direct link from FB instead..

Can you see this pic?

Exam is over.. I hope it goes well.. not much confidence because couldn't finish the paper again.. 9 marks goned.. You need to start writing the moment these business papers start and you can't stop until the examiner says" Stop writing now."

Now.. time to start enjoying my hobbies again..

- Are you enjoying your life too? -
